San Siro calling: Milan to swoop for Afriyie Acquah

Afriyie Acquah could be set for a sensational switch to AC Milan following the confirmation of Sinisa Mihajlovic as the new gaffer at the San Siro, Allsports.com.gh sources have revealed.

The 23 year old Ghana international is a favourite of Mihajlovic who desperately sought and took Acquah to Sampdoria for the second half of the recently concluded Italian top flight season.

The Serbian tactician who made his name as a player at Milan’s crosstown rivals, Inter strutted the Ghanaian straight into the Sampdoria side within two days after arriving from the Africa Cup of Nations and sealing the loan switch from Parma.

“I am convinced that Acquah will give us a big hand. He has great physicality, great strength and I decided to play him from the start to give us speed in midfield,” ” Mihajlovic explained at the time even as he is reputed as a coach who generally declines to speak of individual players.

Acquah took up the mantle, turning up impressive performances game after game for the Blucerchiati who had the option to sign him permanently in June from German side, Hoffeinheim who still hold the rights of the player they signed from Palermo in January 2013.

But Sampdoria it’s believed have decided to pass on the option of signing the player as they are unwilling to meet the asking price.

Mihajlovic meanwhile has not hidden his love for the player and will love to have the combative Ghanaian midfielder in Milan as as he bids to resuscitate the sleeping Italian giants.

Meanwhile, Acquah’s agent, Oliver Arthus has denied any bid from Milan with rumours rife a host of English Premier League clubs including Everton have tabled a bid for the player.

“There’s no information on it, they (Milan) have not contacted me officially,” agent Arthur answered Allsports.com.gh enquiries. Follow @thedonplato
