A man was arrested after he grabbed his girlfriend and took her away from her friend’s wedding. 30-year-old Stevens Ewald of Florida, is accused of forcing his girlfriend to leave the wedding party against her will. Odd News reports:

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, said that Ewald forced his girlfriend to leave the wedding party and dragged her to his car. His girlfriend, 33, who got to the wedding venue in Lake Worth in a limousine with the rest of the family and fiends, was grabbed by the boyfriend who said that the two had to talk. A witness told police that he grabbed her arm, but she shook him off.

The witness said that Ewald then took the woman by force into his car. Eventually, the family was able to make contact with the woman, who told them that she was being taken against her will. Ewald faces charges of kidnapping and battery. He is being held in the Palm Beach County jail on $4,000 bail.

Ewald was charged with an additional crime of obstruction of justice after officials recorded conversations between Ewald and his girlfriend from prison. Police say that he tried to tell his girlfriend what to say in court. However, Ewald’s public defender argued that he was not obstructing justice, but was simply telling his girlfriend how the first appearance works, which is not against the law.
