Ghanaian highlife musician, Kelvin Osei Danquah, aka Pasco Abrantie, has taken a swipe at the country’s politicians for their failure in solving the myriad problems facing ordinary Ghanaians.
He disclosed that ‘I am very unhappy about the living conditions of the ordinary man on the street. We face economic hardships, dumsor, floods, fire outbreaks and several other man-made disasters. President Mahama and the NDC government have simply failed us. As a musician, the only means to communicate my thoughts and take on those in authority is through the lyrics of my songs.’
Pasco Abrantie said his latest single titled ‘Wonkye Ndii’ takes on the current leadership of the nation for sharing the country’s resources on themselves and their cronies instead of the general good of all.
‘There are certain people who should ensure that citizens who pay taxes enjoy the basic necessities of life, and these are the people at the helm of affairs. The people managing the country’s resources don’t even seem to understand what they are doing. I don’t mean to criticise anyone but these guys are not doing well as long as far as governing the people is concerned,’ he stressed.
The ‘Wonkye Ndii’ composer, who has been in the music industry for some time now, categorically denied dabbling in politics to give advantage to the opposition parties, saying, ‘I am only a musician who is using music to educate Ghanaians on their rights and responsibilities and putting politicians on their toes to solve our problems.’
