‘Take off triumphantly’: GNPC urge Black Star to beat Mauritius


The Board, Management and Staff of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), headline sponsors of the Black Stars, once again extend to the team best wishes as the national team begin another round of AFCON qualifiers, this time, towards AFCON 2017.

The Black Stars face Mauritius in a match day one qualifying match for the next Cup of Africa Nations on Sunday afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium and GNPC insist captain Asamoah Gyan and colleagues must go all out for victory.

“We, like many Ghanaians recall your performance at the AFCON 2015 tournament, where you emerged runners-up,” a statement signed by Alex Mould, Acting CEO of GNPC began.

“We urge you to build on your track record of making a continued appearance at the AFCON Tournaments over the last decade, by taking off triumphantly, as you play your maiden qualifier match for the next tournament against your counterparts from Mauritius,” the statement continued.

“We are hopeful that you will demonstrate the same commitment, zeal and love for country combined with the values of professionalism, teamwork, creativity and innovation that resulted in your successful campaign at AFCON 2015, to create an opportunity to achieve the ultimate in the next tournament,” it added.

Not left out were the ever vociferous Black Stars supporters who have been urged to also make their way to the Accra Sports stadium to cheers the players unto victory.
