Minority Leader secures resounding victory in Suame primaries

The Minority Leader Osei Kyei- Mensah-Bonsu has won the NPP Suame primaries for the opposition New Patriotic Party after shrugging off a challenge from three other contenders.

The leader who described himself as the Messi of the constituency polled 283 to put day light between him and the others. The closest had 89.

The Minority leader will go to parliament for the sixth time in a row after he was first elected in 1996.

Osei-Kyei-Mensah had been under pressure to give up his seat for a new blood but he stated emphatically that the top leaders in Parliament must be protected by the party from re-election politics.

He weighed his stature in politics as a โ€˜Messiโ€™, the Barcelona football legend. The other contenders he described as โ€˜Don Borteyโ€™ a local footballer with Accra Hearts of Oak.
