Jospong Group denies NPP aspirant’s claims

The Jospong Group of Companies has unequivocally denied being contracted to print any party T-Shirts for the embattled NPP parliamentary aspirant for Obuasi West.

Kwadwo Boampong , who is contesting the partyโ€™s parliamentary primaries, is being investigated by the Police for distributing T-shirts packaged in Ghana@50-branded wrappers.

He is being accused of hoarding the ceremonial T-shirts while he was the District Chief Executive for the Obuasi Municipality in 2007 and is now using them for his personal campaign.

Mr Boampong told Luv News he contracted a company believed to be under the Jospong Group to print the T-shirts and does not know why they were put in Ghana@50 wrappers.

But the Jospong Group says the aspirant cooked up the story to tarnish the image of the group, and has vehemently denied his claims.

Barbara Esinam Mensah, Corporate Affairs Manager of Jospong , told Myjoyonline.com there is no record to show that Mr. Boampong had transacted any business of that nature with any of its subsidiaries.

โ€œThere is no record of any sales transactions between Appointed Time and Kwadwo Boampong as media report suggests. We therefore disassociate the Group, Dr. Agyepong and the print company โ€“ Appointed Time from the story,โ€ she placed on record.

Esinam Mensah dared Mr Boampong to provide any receipt or documentary evidence to back his claims.

The company is threatening to pursue any legal means available against the beleaguered aspirant for peddling outright falsehood about the company.

Meanwhile, when Luv News asked the former DCE why he did not reject the T-shirts after he learnt they had been packaged in wrong wrappers, Mr Boampong said there was no need to.

The Police in Obuasi however transferred the case to Accra where the T-shirts were reportedly printed and packaged.
