Ghana will not take Mauritius lightly, says midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu

Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu says his teammates are not underrating Mauritius ahead of Sunday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Black Stars are overwhelming favourites to crash Club M at the Accra Sports Stadium in their Group H opener.

Ghana, runners-up at the last edition of the Nations of Cup in Equatorial Guinea, hold the aces to make a winning start to their campaign.

Badu, who has been a key player of the Black Stars since 2009, knows they cannot afford to begin the qualifiers on a shaky start.

‘We intend to approach the match with the mentality to get all the points from it. This is a qualifier and experience has taught us every point is useful,’ the Udinese man told Cafonline.com

‘Normally, qualifiers can be tricky especially, because we are in a league format. For us, we have decided not to depend on any ifs or buts. We want to take our destiny into our own hands and qualify as quickly as possible.

‘We will rather qualify well in time than depend on calculations or arithmetic’s later on. This means we must start getting every point out of every match and off each team we approach and that starts with Mauritius.’
