Edina Manhen Lauds Premix IMC

The Omanhen of Edina Traditional area, Nana KodwoConduah VI has lauded the Interim Management Committee ‘IMC’ of the Elmina Landing Beach for their fairness in the distribution of the subsidized commodity to the fishermen in the area.

Nana Conduah says though the IMC has been in charge of the Elmina Premix for less than one month, his personal observation and reports reaching him indicate that the “IMC” is working with decorum and integrity.

He said the IMC follows lay down procedures and distribute the product to the fishermen evenly without any discrimination, preference or priority.

According Nana Conduah, the high sense of integrity the IMC has attached to their work has eased the pressure, commotion and confusion that surrounded the selling and buying of premix fuel by fishermen in Elmina in times past.

He therefore encouraged the members of the IMCto continue to serve the interest of the larger society by ensuring that the rules and regulations governing the sale of the commodity is strictly adhered to at all times.

The Omanhen made these comments while he was speaking to Alhaji Ibrahim Adam, host of “BiribiSroNko” programme on ATL Fm in Cape Coast.

Some fishermen, who were interviewed by the host earlier, said they have beensatisfied with the work of the IMC.

Owner of NyameBekyerecanoe, Mr. EsuoPrah, popularly known as Tom Pool, who was interviewed about the IMC’s work, had this to say; “I love the way they work. We were all looking for peace to prevail so now that there is peace we are happy”.

Mr. Prah continued “the difference between the IMC and the old management is that; the IMC does not reserve some of the fuel for protocol or any special group of people. They sell according to the names of canoes. This is good and they must continue like that”.

The Elmina Landing Beach Premix Interim Management Committee IMC was constituted by the Central Regional Minister and the National Premix Secretariat.

The main function of the committee is to manage the affairs of Premix Fuel that is solely supposed to be sold to fishermen (Canoe Owner) for fishing expeditions only.

The formation of the IMC became necessary following the dissolution of the management committee who were accused of massive corruption, discrimination.

They were also accused of selling of the fuel product to some cronies who did not own canoes so that they (cronies) can intend sell the fuel at cut throat price to the fishermen.

The composition of the IMC comprises a representative each from the KEEA Municipal Assembly, Municipal Police Command and Edina Traditional Council.

Canoe Owners Association of Elmina has three representatives.
