Black Stars winger Solomon Asante says Ghana will not be underrating Mauritius come Sunday when the two sides clash for their 2017 AFCON qualifiers.

Ghana is favorites to see off the challenge of Mauritius on Sunday to begin their qualification series on the right foot.

Avram Grant side are four time African champions but have gone  33 years without winning a trophy with final defeats to Ivory Coast in 1992, Egypt in 2010 and Ivory Coast again in 2015.

Mauritius are however yet to arrive at Africa cup of nations but Asante says despite the gulf in class between the two nations the Stars will have to be wary of the threat posed by the visitors.

‘Yes it’s true that we are favorites for the game but that is before the game,’ Asante told GHANAsoccernet.com

‘Once we start the game we have to treat them with all seriousness to win the game.

‘Football has evolved and we have to be wary of them to be safe.’
