Postponed: Judge declines to handle Kotoko vs K.K Sarpong court case

Justice Amo Yartey surprisingly pronounced to rescue himself from the pre-trial of the court case between Asante Kotoko and Dr. K.K Sarpong today (Thursday) at the Commercial court 2.

The former Executive Chairman for the Porcupine Warriors filed motion against the league champions to settle monies owed him and in a pre-trial, where councils of the two parties and the judge were present, Justice Amo Yartey stated that he can’t sit on the case.

However, sources close to indicate that Justice Amo Yartey is due for transfer and that his transfer letter is in, hence he doesn’t want to start a case he can’t finish.

Justice Ankamah of Commercial court four has been recommended to handle the pre-trial as the case is adjourned to 24th June.

If the case is not settled at the pre-trial level, there will be hearing on it by a trial judge.

Dr. Sarpong was appointed as Executive Chairman of Kotoko in 2010, but resigned in 2013 after winning two successive league titles, following allegations of financial malfeasance by a section of the club’s stakeholders.
