Head Coach of Mali U-20 side, Fanyeri Diarra says their massive 3-0 win over the Black Satellites of Ghana in the 1/16 stage of the ongoing U-20 World championship on Wednesday wasn’t a fluke but a lot of hard work.
The Black Satellites hope of reaching the quarter final of the ongoing competition faded out as they were hugely dominated by the Malians who had no mercy on the Ghanaian side by striking 3 times in the game to advance to the next stage of the competition.
However, Fanyeri Diarra whose tactics on the day worked to perfection said they prepared extremely well for Ghana and his charges did a great job on the field of play.
‘We were extremely well prepared to face Ghana today and did exactly what we set out to do. My team kept things very compact and we delivered a great performance.
‘The players in this squad are able to put my tactical ideas into practice, so I’m very happy about that and delighted that we’ve made the quarter-finals,’ he said in a post-match interview.
He added – ‘We’ve got a good mix in this side; some of the lads still play in Africa while others come from Europe. The European players have brought some superb experience with them and have lifted the team to a much stronger level’.
Mali in their next game in the ongoing competition will either play Nigeria or Germany.
