Head of Department of Planning at KNUST Dr . Daniel Kweku Baah Inkoom has said that now is the time for Ghanaians to go beyond partisan politics and join forces to demolish all structures on water ways.
Speaking Monday on Adom FM’s current affairs show burning issues, Dr . Inkoom said it is time the country takes a firm action.
“We have a chance now in Ghana, with this disaster and with these floods and with the raining season, this is the time we can put all partisan politics aside, we have seen the disaster we have seen the effect if there are houses in water ways I believe that if we pull them now nobody will complain because we have seen the disaster. This is the time for us to take action, this is the time nobody will blame any political party taking action”, he said.
Over a 100 Ghanaians lost their lives while several others were displaced following days of heavy downpour in the country.
Dr . Inkoom blamed poor planning for the disaster and said government has the responsibility to ensure that proper national planning is carried out holistically to avert any future occurrences.
He said it is time for citizens to raise their voices and called on government to sit up and have the will to develop the country well.
Dr . Inkoom however charged Ghanaians to also change their attitude towards sanitation or else the country will still remain same even if the country is well planned.
He said Ghanaians have the expertise and are capable of changing the face of the country.
