Senate President Bukola Saraki has paid chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Abubakar Atiku a courtesy visit following his emergence as the president of the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

Saraki had boycotted a mock election to choose the Senator that would represent the APC at the election that held today in the Senate but had gone ahead to seek support from his former co-members in the Peole’s Democratic Party (PDP) from where he defected to the PDP. Their support ensured he won the Senate presidency and in return, his supporters were on hand to ensure Ike Ekweremadu of the PDP returns as Deputy President.

With the APC leadership planning to take disciplinary actions against Saraki, according to a statement by the party, the former Kwara State governor will need all the friends in the top order of the APC. Atiku, who is believed not to be aversed to Saraki’s emergence as president is therefore seen as an expected choice of friend for Saraki.
