Controversial Ghanaian rapper, who was jailed for smoking cannabis has called for the legalisation of the herb.
According to him, it is long overdue for authorities to put in place the needed legal instrument to make the smoking of cannabis legal in the country.
This, he said, will pave the way for people to smoke the substance without being prosecuted.
Kwaw Kese, was tried for narcotic offences and was sentenced to a day’s imprisonment. He also paid a fine of GHc1,200.
A Kumasi High Court gave the ruling in April this year after the rapper was arrested by the police in Kumasi on November 22, 2014 for smoking cannabis in public.
The rapper, thanking some of his supporters, whom he said stood by him during his trial, on Facebook Monday said legalising the smoking of cannabis is long overdue.
โThanks to these รขโฌยช#โMadTimerS for that support when they arrested me for enjoying my choice of smoke. I think it’s time to legalize รขโฌยช#โTaaba so that those 80% who shhhmoke in Gh can enjoy their choice of smoke without any interventions!!!
โWhy should a person be jailed for smoking when it’s their choice???โ he wondered and added that, โAfter all cigarettes are poisonous and harmful but it’s for sale!!! รขโฌยช#โlegalize รขโฌยช#โNtampee now !!! รขโฌยช#โYakubuโ
