Accra, June 9, GNA – The Black Stars defeated the Hawks of Togo by a lone goal in an international friendly game at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.
Debutant Bernard Mensah scored Ghana’s only goal through a pile drive after he received a perfect pass from Christian Atsu in the first half.
Mensah, who gave a good account of himself despite his first appearance, partnered with Rabiu Mohamed and Atsu to build a solid midfield, though it was not good enough to give them a huge scoreline.
The Stars introduced Asamoah Gyan, Jeffery Schlup and Agyemang Badu into the game in the second half but failed to increase the tally as the Togolese also created some descent chances but failed to utilise them.
The match was part of the preparations towards the 2017 AFCON qualifiers.
