No shaking: Avram Grant plays down Black Stars injury worries

Avram Grant insists the Black Stars will not be hindered by its injury problems when Ghana face Mauritius in the upcoming Nations Cup qualifier on Sunday.

Ghana will host Les Dodos at the Accra sports stadium without Andre Ayew (calf) and Kwesi Appiah (cruciate ligament), who suffered a setback during training with his Black Stars’ teammates.

Those absentees mean eitherย Jordan Ayew or David Accam is likely to partner Asamoah Gyan in attack, whilst Bernard Mensah will likely replace Andre Ayew, but the Black Stars manager doesn’t think their absence will affect the match.

“Injury is part of the game so it’s very normal. We don’t want any player to be injured but there is nothing you can do if it happens,” Grant said.

“We sufferd the same before the AFCON 2015 when Waris got injured and Gyan was not in good condition but we were able to overcome it.”

“We took more than twenty players and we have a good squad so anybody can replaced at anytime.”
