It’s time to legalise weed – Kwaw Kese

Kwaw Kese
Hiplife artiste, Kwaw Kese, is advocating for the legalisation of Indian hemp in Ghana saying ‘80%’ of Ghanaians indulge themselves in the illegal substance.

‘Abodam’, as he is popularly known, was two months ago, jailed and also fined GH¢1,200 by a Kumasi High court after he was found guilty of smoking cannabis at a popular pub in Kumasi.

‘The Man Insane’, as he is also called, spent over a month in remand at the Kumasi Central Prisons for his public act of defiance.

His time behind bars affected his health, as he spent few days at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital after suffering a stomach upset.

The ‘Alankpai’ creator has indicated in a facebook post on Monday June 8, that he was unfairly arrested, for ‘enjoying’ his ‘choice of smoke’.

He chided the authorities for allowing the sale of cigarettes, a substance he believes is equally ‘poisonous and harmful’.

He has therefore started a social media movement that will likely spark up the debate on the legalisation of Indian hemp in Ghana.

Thanks to these  ‪#‎ MadTimerS‬  for that support when they arrested me for enjoying my choice of smoke. I think it’s time to legalize  ‪#‎ Taaba‬  so that those 80% who shhhmoke in Gh can enjoy their choice of smoke without any interventions!!! Why should a person be jailed for smoking when it’s their choice??? After all cigarettes are poisonous and harmful but it’s for sale!!!  ‪#‎ legalize‬   ‪#‎ Ntampee‬  now !!!  ‪#‎ Yakubu‬
