Injury blow: Kwesi Appiah to miss Mauritius clash

Crystal Palace striker Kwesi Appiah looks to have suffered a serious injury whilst away on international duty this week.

The 24-year-old underwent tests on Friday on a suspected anterior cruciate ligament injury, which he sustained during Ghana training, ruling him out of their AFCON 2017 Qualifier against Mauritius on Sunday 14th June.

The Black Stars also face Togo in a friendly tonight, though Appiah will obviously play no part.

‘With Kwesi Appiah the doctors are still looking at him. He’s suffered an injury likely to be an anterior cruciate ligament injury,’ FA Spokesperson, Saanie Daara told Accra-based Asempa FM.

Appiah secured a place in the Black Stars roster after performing well at the 2015 AFCON where Ghana finished second to the Ivory Coast.
