Group Champions GH¢100m Cash For Nana

Francis Osei-Duah
A GROUP called ‘Donate To Akufo-Addo Campaign’ (DAAC) is to champion the cause to raise a total of GH¢100m to support the campaign of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in the 2016 general elections.

DAAC, which is a registered organisation, says its agenda is to see Nana Akufo-Addo elected president of Ghana on December 7, 2016 to rescue Ghanaians from the unprecedented hardship the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration has plunged the nation into.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE in Sunyani over the weekend, the founder of DAAC, Francis Osei-Duah, said the financial problems facing the NPP now are known to the general public as revealed in recent media publications, noting that it is an embarrassment to the party.

Mr Osei-Duah, who is the Secretary of NPP Hamburg Branch in Germany, said having been very instrumental in the party’s previous campaigns, he decided to step in through DAAC to save the situation.

He explained that fund raising forums would be organised in all 275 constituencies across the country to raise funds for the party’s campaign. He stated that monies raised would be paid directly into the national campaign account of the party.

According to him, the special fund raising forums will start in July from the Brong-Ahafo Region and subsequently be repeated in the other regions.

He urged all those who contribute any amount to demand official receipt, while urging Ghanaians to be proud to register their names in the permanent database of DAAC for future reference.

He noted that changing the leadership in Ghana is the only way to guarantee the future of the coming generation since the NDC has caused all the problems facing the nation today.

‘The change in leadership is inevitable. The only alternative Ghana has at the moment is Nana Akufo-Addo, the man of discipline, who is determined to stamp out completely all forms of corruption from our institutions.

‘He [Akufo-Addo] has the competent team with technical know-how to rescue Ghana from the present economic bondage. He is an example of a leadership Ghanaians are expecting,’ he stated.

Mr Osei-Duah, however, noted that the change may not be realised if the Akufo-Addo campaign does not receive massive financial support because the ruling NDC is well resourced to stage a vigorous campaign so as to retain power, saying, ‘We all want the change, but the expected change will not come to pass unless we all work seriously towards it.’

‘To demonstrate political will to cause the change needed, DAAC appeals to all concerned citizens in Ghana—workers, farmers, students, the youth—irrespective of their political affiliations, and all members of NPP to come together and contribute at least an amount of GH¢10 each to support Nana Addo and his vice, Dr Bawumiah’s presidential campaign to enable them to come to power in 2016 to steer the affairs of the country,’ he concluded.
