Western Regional Minister, Deputy Minister For Rural Development Lead Clean-Up In Tarkwa Nsuaem


Tarkwa Nsueam Municipal Assembly on Saturday embarked on its turn of National Sanitation Clean-Up Exercise in the municipality.

The exercise which was instituted by the government was intended to get rid of filth as well as to de-silt the gutters choked with refuse in various towns and cities.

The clean up exercise which was executed in Tarkwa Nsueam saw the Deputy Minister For Local Government and Rural Development, Deputy Western Regional Minister, The DCE for Tarkwa Nsuaem, Army, Police personel, GPRTU, Zoomlions ,schools , fire personnel and organized groups taken center stage in the exercise held in the municipality.

During the exercise, the Minister for Local Government and Rural development NII Lante Vanderpuye applause the chiefs, organizations and the people of Tarkwa for their tremendous contributions towards the national sanitation clean-up exercise and encourage them to continue support the government initiative to make our towns and cities looks good.

He said the chiefs themselves without any coercion and compulsion will maximize the resource they have, organized the people and together with the MMDCE will continuous to make sure that the exercise go on every month.

Mr. Nii Lante Vanderpure in his remark advice the Ghana water company to desist from laying their pipeline at the drainage areas and said this could lead to water contamination.

According to the Deputy Western Regional Minister, Hon Ekow Gyan, it is because of our bad habit of disposing rubbish that is why the president initiated this clean-up exercise for us to clean our cities and towns.

He said clean-up exercise is a shared responsibility and therefore need not for the president or government officials to come and instruct us to do what is expected of us to do.

Hon Ekow Gyan stated that even though the logistics are not many, we should try as much as possible to take part in the national sanitation exercise.

He therefore advice the store owners to take part in the clean-up exercise rather than abandon their stores and stayed at their various homes.

Notwithstanding , the MCE for Takwa Nsueam, Miss Christina Cobbinah advice the general public not politicize the clean-up exercise because sickness don’t know that you are from party A or party B.

She said 21 member committee has been inaugurate to check on those who loiter rubbish anyhow in Tarkwa municipality.
