Lone goal: Hasaacas beat Bechem United 1-0

Samuel Afful shrugged off his drop from the Black Satellites team to score the only goal for his club Sekondi Hasaacas as they beat Bechem United 1-0 on Sunday.

Afful jumped to head in a cross from Augustine Arhinful in the 22nd minute; the goal handed the home side a win in the first match of the second round of the First Capital Premier League at the Sekondi stadium.

The match looked quiet unimpressive from both teams as faulty passes and some rustiness showed all through the game.

Hasaacas tried getting more goals but their use of long balls was dealt with competently by their opponent making the game cagey.

Goalkeeper Prince Asempa ย made a save from a goal mouth scramble, first spillingย  Arhinful’s free kick and blocked the rebound from Frederick Quayson before Afful flied over his finish from the bar line.

Afful had another header attempt at goal but narrowly missing target as he run to connect to Emmanuel Ankobea’s cross from the left field.

Yaw Arnol created the only good chance for Bechem United before the recess when he weaved his way through to deliver a shot which George Owu had fully covered in his grab.

Hasaacas made early incursion in the second half but the balls sent into the box of their opponent were cut out.

Bechem were also dealt a blow when their midfielder Yaw Mensah was sent off for his second bookable offense six minutes into the second half.

But their numerical disadvantage was rarely visible as they maximized their efforts to equalize.

Basigi responded with two substitutions in Kojo Poku and Joe Agyemang which consolidated his team’s recovery to control the game for a winning day.
