APGA Holds National Convention, Elects Maku as National Secretary

Labaran MakuThe All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, on Saturday held its National Convention in Awka, Anambra State where Chief Victor Oye and former Minister of Information and candidate of the party during the last governorship poll in Nasarawa, Labaran Maku, were elected as National Chairman and Secretary of the party respectively.

The duo take over from Chief Victor Umeh and Alhaji Shinkafi in that order.

Others elected in the convention were: Mike Kwentoh (National Organising Secretary), Ifeatu Obi Okoye, (National Publicity Secretary) and National Treasurer was Chief Damian Ozurumba.

Others are Chuks Nwoga, Youth Leader and Obiagu Ezinne, National Women Leader.

In his speech, the outgone chairman of APGA, Umeh, told the national delegates that he left N40 million in the coffers of the party, which he said would be officially handed over to the new leadership on June 10, at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.

Mr. Umeh also charged the new leadership to put the interest of the party above other considerations.

He pointed out that under his watch, APGA won 27 House of Assembly seats in Anambra, 11 in Abia, one in Bayelsa and one in Taraba, while the party won two House of Representatives seats in Anambra, one in Taraba and one in Abia.
