GPL: Kotoko in a tough league encounter against Lions


Asante Kotoko will make a journey to Kpando where they will face Heart of Lions on Sunday in the First Capital Plus Premier league match day 16.

Asante Kotoko had their highest league victory this season on match day 15 by thrashing Heart of Lions by 4 goals to nil at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.

The defeat is also Kpando Heart of Lions worst defeat in recent times and are determined to avenge it on home soil on Sunday.

Lions finished runners-up to Asante Kotoko last season, but they are not in the best of form this season and are as a result lying 11 on the league log.

Asante Kotoko on the hand have been inconsistent season: they started the season on a poor note, then improved on their performance, but that didn’t last and they got back to their poor form, before upping their game in their last two games to end the first round.

Heart of Lions are unbeaten at home this season: have won 4 games and drawn 3, while Kotoko on the other hand have won 2, lost 2 and drawn 3 away league games this season.

These sides have played in 21 league games, with Kotoko winning 9, losing 6 and drawing 6.

The Porcupine Warriors are superior at Lion’s home grounds having won 4, lost 2 and drawn 4 of their 10 outings.

Last season, for the very first time in the history of Kpando Heart of Lions they recorded a home and away victories over Kotoko in the league.
