A 32-year-old man, Sunday Aneke, was on Wednesday arraigned before the Federal High Court in Enugu for defiling his 10-year-old half-sister. The accused was arraigned on a two-count charge of defiling and defiling a child old enough to be his daughter. The counsel to the plaintiff, Jude Anigbo, said in July 2014, the accused forced his half-sister into bed. The Eagle Online reports:

Anigbo said the accused on the fateful day called the victim and asked her whether she had taken her breakfast and the victim answered in the affirmative. He said the suspect ordered her to take her bath and it was while she was applying cream to her body after the bath that he locked her in and warned her not to raise an alarm. He said: “The accused forced her into bed and started defiling her.

“He defiled her for about three hours and the victim lost consciousness, which made the accused person to run away. “Luck ran out of him as he was coming out of the room with blood stains on his cloth and a man who was coming into the house saw him.”

On his side, the counsel to the accused, Joseph Ugwuogbo, said his client did not r*pe the victim as he was not in the village that faithful day. Ugwuogbo said the victim’s mother set the accused up because she was not on talking terms with his mother. Dorothy Agishi adjourned the case to July 18 for continuation of hearing.
