Jigawa NSCDC Upgrades Outpost To Division

NSCDC12The Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has upgraded its outpost in Gandun-Sarki community in Malammadori Local Government Area to a Division.

This is part of its efforts at combating crime in the state.

The Corps Commandant, Mr Muhammad Gidado, disclosed this on Tuesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse.

He said the initiative was imperative because of the rate of crime being recorded in the area.

“The area habours all kinds of criminals; in fact, we record the highest number of crimes in the area.

“I mean, out of the 27 local government areas in the state, the biggest percentage of crimes emanates from that area”, Gidado said.

He said that the command’s intelligence reports indicated that criminal elements from other villages and towns were taking refuse in the area.

“The place is just a hiding place for criminals and evil doers; those who run away from their towns or villages for committing one offence or the other run and settle in the area.

“And we cannot fold our arms and watch them committing more and more offences”, he said.
The commandant said the outpost was upgraded because it could no longer handle the rising incidences of criminality in the area.

“So, we feel there is need to upgrade the outpost to a division; equip it with senior officers who can handle all kinds of cases, especially interrogation and prosecution aimed at making the area and the state crime-free”, he said. (NAN)
