Fourth Boko Haram Attack In Five Days Claims 6 Lives In Maiduguri

Islamist sect Boko Haram seemed determined to decimate Maiduguri, the Borno state capital as it struck again on Wednesday, killing at least six people as an explosion rocked the north eastern city.

“We have so far recovered six dead bodies. We are still working at the scene, so the casualties may rise,” Danlami Ajaokuta, a civilian vigilante assisting the military against Boko Haram told AFP.

The blast which occurred on Baga Road, was said to have happened around 5:30 pm.

Boko Haram insurgency is high up the list of issues President Muhammadu Buhari intends to tackle, but before he even settled, following his inauguration on Friday, four attacks have already been made by the insurgents.

Buhari travelled to Niger and Chad earlier today to discuss strengthened regional cooperation in the fight against Boko Haram. Drastic actions are expected to be taken by the new president who rode on his promise to end insecurity in Nigeria, among others, to win the March 28 Presidential election.
