CITI FM in the month of June will roll out a month-long series providing on-air public education and captivating conversations on business and management it has christened, ‘Citi Business Festival’.
Speaking in an interview with B&FT, Director of News Programming at the Adabraka based radio station, Bernard Avle noted that the “festival would highlight selected business topics and discuss issues confronting certain sectors of Ghana’s business community and also provide career or industry highlights to students of Ghana’s tertiary institutions”.
The first edition of the Citi Business Festival, sponsored by Union Savings and Loans Limited, is composed of four main elements.
The first of which is an interactive month-long radio campaign that is the “Management Development Month Series” featuring presentations from top-notch industry practitioners.
“In the first week we will be talking about marketing management and customer management; second week will be Human Resource management; third week will cover strategy, and last week will deal with leadership. It is something I urge people to listen closely to from 9am every morning on the Citi Breakfast Show,” Bernard Avle noted.
The Citi Business Forum is the second dimension of the Festival and will be organized every Friday evening through the month of June. It will focus on four (4) key areas: · advertising, entrepreneurship, negotiations and marketing
The Footprint, which is a platform designed to engage the tertiary student community as they prepare for the corporate world features as the third wing of the festival. Selected industry chiefs will be part of the team that will provide industry insights to students in an interactive fashion, providing students with current trends and dynamics in the various sectors.
“We will go to Central University and University of Ghana to speak to students and have a panel discussion on specific sectors. So for example with students who want to work in the banking sector, the Legon program will present them some very useful insights into how to prepare to work in the banking sector. When we go to Central University it will be on the marketing and fast moving consumer goods area”, he added.
This is aimed at solving the age long concern of industry, about the quality and capacity of graduates from the various tertiary institutions in the country.
Another feature of the festival is the Corporate Night Out, which is a two-hour cocktail event that will features live band music and will target members of the business community.
“The corporate night out and the business fora have been merged into one big corporate event. Joel Nettey who is the president of the advertisers association of Ghana will be talking about creating your own path as an advertisers on the 5th of June, for example,” Mr. Avle pointed out.
This is also to give more value to the advertisers, “some of our sponsors like the platform but it’s like only in the studio, only on air, so we are going physically to interact with people.”
