Black Queens through to final stage of Olympic qualifiers

Ghana’s Black Queens defeated their Egyptian counterparts 3-0 in Accra on Sunday to boost their chances of making it to the Rio 2016 Olympic games.

The senior women national team made it to the next stage of the qualifiers with a 4-1 goal aggregate after the first leg ended 1-1 in Cairo.

After a goalless first half, Portia Boakye scored the opening goal in the 53rd minute.

Despite efforts by the Egyptians to grab an equalizer, the Black Queens doubled their lead courtesy Jane Ayieyam’s 85th minute goal.

That was not all from Yusif Bassigi’s side as Elizabeth Addo beautifully headed home the third goal in the 88th minute.

The Black Queens are now through to the final stage of the Rio 2016 qualifiers where they will face either Guinea or Cameroon
