Hundreds gather for Kumasi ‘Dumsor’ demo

Hundreds of Ghanaians have gathered at the Kumasi Cultural Centre Thursday for a demonstration against the current power crisis that the country has grappled with for the past three years.

The demonstration is being spearheaded by the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG).

The demonstration against the power crisis, popularly known as Dumsor, is expected to be attended by members of the Ghana Actors Guild (GAG), members of the Creative Arts for Change, as well as some of Ghanaโ€™s popular actors, movie and stage directors, scriptwriters, editors, producers, makeup artists, soundtrack singers & producers, acting guildsโ€™ members, retailers, marketers, and distributors among others.

Luv FMโ€™s John Yeye reported that more than 500 people have so far gathered for the demonstration and the numbers are increasing by the minute.

John said the main architects, with the exception of actor Kwadwo Nkansah (Lilwin), of the event are yet to report at the convergence grounds.

Participants are expected to converge at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi after the demonstration.
