Upper East Kicks Against Afoko, Agyepong

The Upper East Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Cletus Ayambire, has said that the party in the region had unanimously resolved that the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and the General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, should be impeached.

According to him, even though the regional branch of the party had decided not to embark on any political activities till Thursday, May 28, as a sign of respect for the late regional NPP Chairman, Adams Mahama – who died from acid attack last Thursday โ€“ the executives decided to call an emergency meeting yesterday, May 26, to also take a decision as to whether to keep the two embattled national executives in the party or to ‘kick’ them out.

According to the regional secretary, it was a unanimous decision by the 15 constituency chairmen who signed on behalf of their constituency executives. Each constituency is expected to have 16 signatures and though only the constituency chairmen had signed at the time of filing this report, Mr Cletus Ayambire insisted that the resolution was unanimous.

He said the region is divided into two โ€“ Bawku and Bolgatanga zones โ€“ so constituencies close to Bawku met in Bawku, while those close to Bolgatanga met there.

He said their decision became necessary due to the nationwide meetings by party wxecutives, over the fate of the national chairman and the general secretary of the party.

Asked whether the five regional executives who were banned from the late regional chairman’s funeral, were also at the meeting, the regional secretary said the resolution was to be sent to their houses to get them to sign.
