Bad day: Defeat to Madagascar was hard luck – Michael Akuffo

Local Black Stars midfielder, Michael Akuffo says their defeat to Madagascar was due to hard luck. According to him they did everything on the field of play to win the game.

‘Our loss to Madagascar was due to hard luck, we did everything that we have to do on the field but the luck was not on our side,’ Akuffo told Allsports.com.gh exclusively from South Africa.

The Local Black Stars of Ghana succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Madagascar in the quarter finals of the 2015 edition of the COSAFA Cup held in South Africa.

Ghana prior to the game was touted as the favourite side to win the game but they were stunned at the end of 90 minutes.

Akuffo who was in the heart of Ghana’s midfield against Madagascar opined that the South African side came into the game to frustrate them.

‘From the blast of the whistle we took command control of the game, we created a lot of goal scoring opportunities which we failed to bury ย but Madagascar came into the game with a strategy to frustrate us which worked to their favour and they won the game, it was a painful loss,’ he concluded.

Ghana will now face Zambia at the plate semi final of the ongoing COSAFA Cup competition.
