A couple was arrested on charges of murder after allegedly beating their young child to death to stop her from crying, police in Mexico said. 24-year-old Maribel Palacios Posada and her boyfriend, 27-year-old Gerardo Gonzalez Mayoral, are said to have killed their 2-year-old daughter at their home in Mexico City.
According to worldwideweirdnews, the couple initially claimed that the girl had been injured by falling down a flight of stairs, but after further questioning, Posada confessed that she and her partner regularly beat their daughter when she cried.
The family of the girl also told detectives that she was regularly abused by her mother.
The autopsy indicated that the girl died of visceral and tissue changes caused by what were probably punches or kicks in the abdominal area.
