Biakoye DCE Dies

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Biakoye in the Volta Region, Nana Louis Akattah, has passed away. He is reported to have died on Sunday at about 6:30 am at the Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital at Kpando. He had been on admission at the hospital since last Friday.

Mr. Akattah, who has been DCE for Biakoye since 2012, is reported to be unwell for some time now.

Confirming his death to DAILY GUIDE, the Volta Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Kwadwo Gyapong said, ‘Our brother has been sick for a while. So he was sent to the government hospital at Kpando, Margaret Marquart, where he finally passed away.’

He described the DCE as very hard working. Mr. Gyapong said the party had lost a good man and that they were distraught by the bad news.

The Volta Regional Minister, Helen Adwoa Ntoso, led a delegation, including the regional executives of the NDC and some MDCEs, to visit the late DCE’s family and commiserated with them.

The National Democratic Congress in the Biakoye constituency is expected to meet on Monday to plan for his burial.

His death brings to three, the number of DCEs who have died in recent times. In March, the DCE for Gomoa East, Isaac Kingsley Ehun-Armah, died after resigning on health grounds. Also, the Nkwanta South DCE, Peter Kwadwo Kenyeso, was gunned down by some unknown assailants in November 2014.
