Olympics qualifier: Congo coach Claude Leroy accuses Ghana of age cheating

Head coach of Congo Brazzaville U-23 team, Claude Leroy has questioned the ages of the Black Meteors following his side’s 1-0 defeat in the first leg tie last Saturday in an Olympics games qualifier at the Accra sports stadium.

The Black Meteors needed Ebo Andoh’s 38th minute sublime strike to win the day as it was a tense game for the host; the away side dominated the entire second half.

After the game, coach of Congo, Claude Leroy who once coached the Black Stars of Ghana questioned the ages of the Black Meteors players, as he tag them as overage.

‘Ghana won with a nice goal but here is a Congo side with 6 players who are all of the right age. But the Ghana team used overage players to beat me which is not fair,’ he told the press in a post-match conference.

‘I coached some of the players who played today in the CHAN qualifiers in 2008. I went to Niger with them and I know what I’m talking about.’

‘I am not joking my brother, you can check. Some played with me way back in 2008 and they are now U23 playing today, it’s not fair’.

The Black Meteors will travel to Congo in two weeks time for the second leg tie.
