Veteran Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson: ‘I have no plans to retire’

Veteran goalkeeper Richard Kingson insists he has no plans to retire from football in the  foreseeable future as he plots the revival of Accra Great of Olympics in the Ghanaian top-flight.

The 36-year-old is not showing any signs of retrogressing despite his age, showing improved performances for Great Olympics.

The former Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic and Blackpool shot-stopper insists he has enough energy to carry on.

“I don’t know, but I believe when the time comes I will stop. I will not wait for someone to tell me to stop. When the time comes I will,” he told Joy Sports.

“In football you have to listen to yourself and your body will indicate it’s over. Some people stop because of pressure from people. But I will not bow to that pressure. When the time comes to retire I will for now am active.”
