Societe Generale Hosts Chinese Companies

Societe Generale Ghana organized a Wine Tasting event for its cherished Chinese clients at the bank’s head office in April 2015, bringing together over 40 major Chinese companies operating in the country.

The purpose was to share expertise and knowledge on the country’s current macroeconomic environment and highlight certain opportunities businesses could exploit.

The very innovative wine tasting session was done with a ‘French Touch.’

The event was graced by the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Sun Baohong, the Chinese Economic Consular, Li Jiang, representative of CAF Funds in Ghana, He Yali and representatives of China Development across the industry.

Deputy Managing Director of Societe Generale Ghana, Francois Marchal, highlighted the importance of developing relationships with the Chinese community by adapting the SG Group’s strategy to position the Chinese Desk in all its subsidiaries in Africa, with Ghana as a leading subsidiary within the group.

This will ensure that all the unique needs of the market segments are well catered for in line with the slogan of the SG Group – ‘Accompanying the business development of Chinese companies in Africa.’

Ms Sun Baohong has also given her full support to the continued enhancement of relations between Ghana and China.

She encouraged Chinese enterprises in Ghana to transact business to boost cooperation and explore additional diversified forms of financing to elevate the capacity of international and local operational levels and make further contributions to the development of the economies of China and Ghana.

Doris Ahiati, Head of Research of Data Bank gave an economic briefing on the impact of IMF programme on Ghana’s macro-economy.

CAI Shujue, Head of China-Africa Business Development at Societe Generale Paris also analyzed the impact of the drop in the prices of crude oil on the world market on Sub-Saharan Africa countries.
