Elite Cup match: Medeama sink Dwarfs in Elite Cup match

The first match of Group 3 in the Elite Cup competition saw premier league side Medeama SC winning 3-1 against their one-time rival and division one side Ebusua Dwarfs at the T & N Park in Tarkwa on Wednesday.

The match postponed to Wednesday due to Dwarfs’ engagement in the National Division One League where they played their last match of the first round last Sunday had the Cape Coast team opened the scoring through Fatau Abdullai in the 18th minutes to set the stage for a contest.ย 

Medeama stepped up to the challenge as striker Kennedy Boateng,three minutes after half an hour drew parity before recess when contention for the three points was getting keener.ย 

Coach J.E. Sarpong who has led Dwarfs to impressive run in the Zone 2 of the Division One league as table toppers were at the grounds of a resurgent team and the second half clearly showed the mark of the home side with midfielder Dominic Eshun converting two penalties in the 54th and 59th minutes respectively to earn the Yellow and Mauves maximum points.ย 

The other match in Group 3 between Hearts of Oak and division one side Elmina Sharks will be honored at a later date after the Phobians are done with the second leg tie against Esperance de Tunis in the final eliminator if the CAF Confederations Cup.ย 

The Elite Cup returns with match day two fixtures on June 10 in all three groups.
