Hammers bound? West Ham consider Donsah as Alex Song’s replacement

West Ham United have shown interest in signing Cagliari midfielder Godfred Donsah during this summer’s transfer window.

The Hammers see Donsah as an ideal midfeield enforcer, with Alex Song set to return to Barcelona at the end of his loan deal this summer, West Ham will need to replace the former Arsenal star, and may well want to bring in a similarly athletic midfielder.

It’s therefore little surprise to see that Calcio Mercato are crediting the Hammers with an interest in signing Cagliari’s highly-rated midfielder Donsah, who could well be available this summer.

The Daily Mail report that West Ham are leading the race against their more esteemed opposition such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester City and Manchester United.

Recently crowned Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven have also been monitoring Donsah, but it is reported that the Hammers have the inside edge so far in the hunt.

The 18-year-old Donsah has enjoyed an impressive season in Italy, demonstrating his athleticism in midfielder, and the relegation is bound to make the vultures circle this summer – and you can now seemingly add West Ham to his list of potential suitors, despite the confusion over who will be managing the club next season.
