Fake Soldier Grabbed With Fake Money

Fiifi Medici, 36, a civilian, has been arrested, dressed in military uniform with the rank of a major, and having in his possession fake currency.

He was apprehended by a joint police/military team at the Vienna City, a popular pub in Kumasi, on May 17 this year, at about 1:15.

Some people that were having a nice time at Vienna City on that fateful day suspected that Fiifi Medici by his weird action, could not be a genuine military officer, so they raised an alarm, resulting in his arrest.

Fiifi Medici quickly confessed that indeed he was not a military officer during a hot interrogation which ensued after his arrest, claiming that his uncle, a retired military officer, gave the uniform to him.

He said he just felt like dressing like a soldier to have a nice time at the drinking pub on that day.

The troubles of the suspect however, got deepened when the security agents found on him a fake GHยข20 note during a thorough search on him, ACP Ampofo Duku, Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander said.

Briefing the media on Monday, the police chief said on that fateful day the police had information that a man who suspected to be a fake soldier was at Vienna City โ€“ dressed in military uniform.

A joint police/military patrol team rushed to the place and arrested Fiifi Medici who instantly confessed being a civilian, adding that during a search on the suspect a fake GHยข20 note was found on him.

He said the police did not know whether the suspect had in the past dressed in the military uniform to dupe innocent people or not, adding that they were investigating the case further before sending Fiifi to court.

ACP Duku therefore entreated people that had either been duped or harassed by the suspect to report to the police so that justice would be served them (the victims.)

The police commander said Fiifi Medici had been charged for possessing a military uniform and also wearing a military uniform even though he is not a trained soldier and therefore not fit to wear the uniform.
