Dormaa Presby Hospital needs incubators

Dormaa – Ahenkro (B/A), May 18, GNA – The Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital in Brong – Ahafo is in critical need of incubators and other life support equipment to save the lives of the overwhelming number of premature babies who perish due to the lack of such equipment.

The hospital has therefore launched an Incubator Fund to help raise funds for the procurement of at least six incubators and other lifesaving gadgets.

At the launch of the Fund in Dormaa – Ahenkro, Dr Ebenezer Osei Mensah, of the Children’s Ward of the Hospital, reiterated the need for the people of the area to contribute financially towards the purchase of the incubators to save the lives of premature babies.

Dr. Mensah noted that premature deliveries are caused by risk factors such as malaria, infections, fibroid and diabetes, among others, which could be suffered by the mother during pregnancy.

Dr Adoma Dwomo – Fokuo, the Medical Officer In-Charge at the Ward, appealed for assistance to procure incubators for the Hospital to curb the many deaths of premature babies.

Mr Gordon Asubonteng, the Dormaa Municipal Chief Executive, expressed grave concern about the attitude of the people of the area, who showed lack of interest to development issues affecting them.

He appealed to them to change their attitude since government alone cannot shoulder all the responsibilities of the nation.

Barima Yeboah Kordie, Aduanahene of Dormaa Traditional Area, said he plans to embark on a project to extend the appeal to the 175 communities in the Dormaa Municipality to donate GH¢ 100.00 each as their contribution towards the Incubator Fund and called for cooperation.

The MCE on behalf of the Dormaa Municipality presented a cheque for GH¢1000.00 and a personal contribution of GH¢ 500.00 towards the Fund.
