Kotoko will leave nothing to chance to beat Edubiase FC in Sunday’s Elite Cup match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Communications Manager, Kwaku Ahenkorah, has said.
Kotoko are in Group 2 of the Elite Club Cup competition with Edubiase, Ashantigold and division one side, Dunkwa United.
Going by the competition rules, winners of the four groups will advance to the semi-final after home and away matches. Kotoko are determined to win the single slot in Group 2 to push their ambition of winning the Ghana Football Association (GFA)’s new competition.
That ambition starts on Sunday and Kwaku Ahenkorah believes that Edubiase will have no survival chance in Kumasi.
“It is one match we are dying to play for varying reasons” he said. “Edubiase secured a 2-2 result from our last encounter when we were supposed to cruise home with three points. It was a painful experience for the players, technical team, the supporters and all who matter in the club,” Ahenkorah added.
“We’ve been looking for means to make amends and the Elite Cup has given us that opportunity. We won’t let it slip through our fingers like it did the last time,” he added.
“We are also motivated by the fact that, this is the maiden edition of the Elite Cup and we want to be first time winners. We are hopeful of adding it to our trophy cabinet,” Ahenkorah stated.
The Communications Manager also confirmed that four players who have been in camp with the home based Black Stars preparing for the COSAFA Cup will be available for the game.
“Upon our request, Ahmed Adams, Michael Akuffo, Abeiku Ainooson and Emmanuel Asante are expected to join their teammates at training today. We are leaving nothing to chance.”
