GLICO Boss Inducted Into Entrepreneurs’ Hall Of Fame


Kwame Achampong-Kyei, Executive Chairman of GLICO GROUP, has been inducted into the Ghana Entrepreneurs’ Hall of Fame by the Entrepreneur Foundation of Ghana.

He was awarded for his outstanding contributions to entrepreneurship in the country.

The Entrepreneurs’ Hall of Fame award was held at the State Banquet Hall, Accra under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The award was instituted for entrepreneurs who have made exceptional achievements to create economic and social values.

Out of 127 entrepreneurs honoured by the Entrepreneur Foundation, 30 outstanding entrepreneurs were inducted into the Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame.

Mr. K. Achampong -Kyei, after receiving the award, said ‘It is humbling for one to be recognized for his contributions towards the socio-economic development of Ghana.

‘This award spurs me on to contribute more in generating new ideas and growing new companies to serve Mother Ghana.’

Mr. Achampong-Kyei founded the company in 1987 as Gemini Life Insurance Company (GLICO) which has grown into a group with six subsidiaries that specializes in insurance and financial intermediation.

He has won many prestigious awards including the President’s Club Membership, the International Quality Award in Life Underwriting (1980) from the Life Insurance Marketing and Research Association, USA.

In addition, he was awarded the Gold Award of the American International Group (1982), the CIMG Marketing Man of the Year (2008) and the Best Entrepreneur in Insurance (2010) instituted by the Entrepreneur Foundation of Ghana (EFG).
