Enjoying new role: Emmanuel Asante happy with midfield role at Kotoko

Asante Kotoko versatile player, Emmanuel Asante is happy doing well in the offensive-midfield role in the ongoing 2014/15 First Capital Plus Premiership.

Although he was signed from Bechem Utd during the offseason as a left-back, the lanky left footed player has taken on two new roles, starting as a left-winger and now as a free ranger in the central midfield. He has adapted so well to the new responsibility and is elated by the opportunities that come along with it.

“I’m enjoying it; I’m able to surge forward to find space for the strikers,’ Asante told the club’s website.

‘It’s exciting playing at a position where you are a key part of the buildups as well as the defenses. It isn’t an unfamiliar role because I have played there before in my former clubs and in other unofficial matches.’

Emmanuel Asante has scored three league goals this season, one, from a strike taken straight from the corner spot against Hasaacas, though he played then as left-back. The other two goals came out of his offensive role against New Edubiase and Heart of Lions.

‘Going on the offensive creates opportunities for me to score goals whiles providing chances for others to also score. I try to take my chances when I get them. I am still working hard to improve on my scoring rate.’
