Juaso (Ash), May 13, GNA – The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has been urged to give priority to the improvement of its computer network infrastructure to raise the quality of services to clients.
Mr De-graft Forkuo, Asante-Akim South, District Chief Executive complained about frequent breakdown of its network and said this should be addressed urgently.
He said the frustration people go through to get their bio-data captured under the National Health Insurance Scheme biometric registration, is unacceptable.
This comes amid growing disappointment at the slow pace of the biometric registration exercise, culminating in overcrowding of people at the scheme’s district office – the only point of registration in the area.
“Some clients especially those from remote communities are compelled to spend days at the registration centre, exposing them to mosquito bites, just to obtain the insurance card.”
Mr Forkuo, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency , at Juaso said every effort should be made to speed up the process.
He appealed to the people to continue to bear with the staff of the NHIA in the face of the difficult circumstances under, which they are operating.
He discounted claims that the scheme, a key social intervention, is on the verge of collapse and asked stakeholders to work to ensure its sustenance.
