Gospel musician Danny Nettey to be honoured

Gospel musician Danny Nettey is set to be honoured for his immense contribution to the development and growth of gospel music in Ghana.

The musician, who has been in gospel ministry for the past three decades, will be honoured at a special concert on May 17 at the National Theatre.

The event, dubbed Celebration of Faithfulness, is being put together by KC Entertainment, in collaboration with Footprint TV.

Minister Danny Nettey, as he is affectionately called, has five albums to his credit in a 30-year-ministry and has written over 500 songs.

He is also a major songwriter for some top gospel artistes in Ghana and beyond.

“He changed the face of contemporary gospel music in Ghana, style, versatility, vocal prowess and presentation has advanced gospel music across the borders of Ghana,” a statement by the organisers said.

Most of Danny Nettey’s compositions, the statement noted, have gone international notably his hit song “I Will Worship You” which is a local and international hit.

“He has remained faithful to the Ministry all these years. He has won local and international awards and received numerous citations.”

The organisers noted that Minister Danny Nettey’s “dedication and experience has brought gospel, especially contemporary gospel music, in Ghana far and he is a beckon of hope for Gospel music in Ghana.”

Some notable gospel musicians who have been greatly influenced by Danny Nettey’s ministry include Cwesi Oteng, Nii Okai, Joe Mettle, Ike Nanor, Eugene Zuta and Pastor Josh Laryea.

All these musicians and others will be performing on May 17 to honour Minister Danny Nettey, who is also the host of Worship Zone on Joy FM.

“It’s the first time ever a gospel legend has been celebrated. He is a legend worth celebrating. A rare talent and a gift to the body of Christ and the Nation,” the statement added.
