In form: Confident Okrah eyes 2 goals in Sudan derby

Ghana’s Augustine Okrah aims once again to be the star man for Al-Merreikh as the leaders travel to play title rivals Al Hilal in a Sunday Sudani Premier League fixture with both sides locked on 29 points at the apex of the standings.

Okrah who feels confident and fit, believes Hilal will be tough because they’re a great club and one of the best in Africa but the former Bechem United striker has promised another MVP performance against the reigning league champions.

Indeed, so high is the confidence of the 21 year old, he has boldly revealed his aim to score two goals to put Merreikh 3 points clear at the top of the league table.

“Merreikh-Hilal matches are like the El Classico or Manchester derby so scoring in such a fixture is always a great experience,” Okrah told Allsports.com.gh exclusively.

“Hilal is one of the clubs I truly respect because of their domestic and continental successes but I now know and understand Sudanese culture so I can say I’ve settled in. That’s the foundation I needed to perform,” he continued.

“I’ve laid the foundation for an excellent second round. I believe I can score to top the scorers’ chart even though I play in midfield,” Okrah added.

Hilal and Merreikh last met in the league in November 2014. It ended 0-0 swhich enabled Hilal to win last year’s league title with a one point advantage.

Al Merreikh and unbeaten Hilal are both on 29pts but Merreikh have +6 goal advantage to top league in the current campaign which has seen both sides play 13 matches each so far. Follow @thedonplato
