Middlesborough coach Aitor Karanka says Albert Adomah’s booking during their 2-1 win over Brentford is a source of concern.

The Ghanaian was on the winning side as Brentford were defeated in the playoff semi-final first leg

Albert Adomah ‘s  Middlesbrough  took a firm step towards the Premier League with a first-leg victory over  Brentford  in the Championship playoff semi-finals.

A 92nd-minute winner for Boro gave them a vital 2-1 away victory at Griffin Park.

Despite spending much of the Championship season in the automatic promotion positions, Aitor Karanka’s side had to settle for fourth-place and the playoffs. However, they made a wonderful start to the mini end-of-season tournament to give themselves an excellent chance of making the Wembley final.

They opened the scoring through Jelle Vossen, who headed past David Buffon on 26 minutes after a fine pass from Adam Clayton.

Brentford steadily regained their composure after an unconvincing period and equalised 10 minutes after the break when Smoggies keeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos hesitated when dealing with a long ball forward by the Bees. Forward Andre Gray closed down the keeper and profited from a fortunate rebound to finish coolly.

Adomah had an opportunity to restore the lead midway through the second half, but his excellent left-footed volley was tipped over the bar by Button.

Soon after that he was booked for a hard tackle which leaves in vulnerable for the second encounter.

“We have to work hard and keep the ball more at the Riverside,” The former Real Madrid Assistant said

”Adomah picked up a booking and that is certainly a concern.

“Friday will be very important but we pick up with a good win.”
