Unlike several governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the country, Kaduna state Governor-elect, Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i says his government will not interfere with funds accruing to local government areas from the Federation Account.

He promised that the state will not interfere with the running of the 23 local government councils, according to a statement by his spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, in Kaduna on Friday.

According to the statement el-Rufa’i made his position known when a forum of APC local government chairmen in the state paid him a courtesy visit.

“We must do what our people want and what will benefit them and we must be firm in bringing positive change and coherent development in Kaduna state.

“We will not touch a kobo or naira of local government councils in the state because the local government areas must be allowed to deliver development and real change.

“They must go and work; development is practical and not invisible.

“We will not tolerate waste and mismanagement of public resources and we will also not tolerate incompetence from officials charged with promoting the well-being of our state,” the statement quoted el-Rufai to have said.

Earlier in his address, leader of the delegation, Alhaji Naibi Ibrahim Sambo, said they were in Kaduna to congratulate the Governor-elect and pray for his success.
