NHIS Accountant Commits Suicide

Bizarre reports reaching DAILY GUIDE from Kintampo indicate that the Kintampo Municipal Accountant of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), John Okrah, 45, has committed suicide.

The deceased, a father of four, reportedly hanged himself in a nearby uncompleted house Thursday morning around 5:30am with a rope he bought a day earlier at his workplace.

Confirming the news to DAILY GUIDE, the Kintampo Municipal Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Desmond Owusu Boampong, said police preliminary investigations established that the deceased had for some time conceived the idea of taking his life.

He said the police discovered that on Wednesday the Accountant worked happily with his colleagues and bought the rope he used to commit the suicide same day.

The deceased reportedly got up early in the morning, took the rope in a polythene bag and went to the next house, which was under construction, and hanged himself.

Chief Supt Boampong indicated that the police found out that the deceased had no problem at his workplace as he had never received any query to suggest that he was under pressure.

His wife also told the police that she had no marital problems with her husband and therefore could not fathom what pushed him to take his life.

The body has been deposited at the Kintampo Municipal Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.

Meanwhile, the police say investigations are underway to establish what led to the unfortunate incident.
