Kwami Kpodoh, Technical Director of the Ghana Swimming Association and director of training of the Ghana Lifesaving and Diving Association has presented swimming equipment worth of $2000 to the Ombi Swimming and Water Polo Club.
The items included stopwatches, kickboards, hand paddles, pace clock, forearm fulcrum paddles, short blade training fins, swimming caps, swimming goggles, nose clips and training snorkels for swimmers.
He expressed the hope that the donation would motivate the athletes to train harder and excel at various national and international competitions.
He said the promotion and development of swimming should not be the sole responsibility of the government and therefore called for the support and contributions of corporate bodies and stakeholders to aid the various sports disciplines.
Ibrahim Issah, Manager of the club, who received the items, thanked Kwami Kpodoh for his kind gesture and said it would go a long way in taking care of the first needs of the athletes.
Ibrahim Issah gave the assurance that the equipment would be put to good use and also help unearth new talents.
